• The Business Owner

The Business Owner recently spoke with Cheltenham based personal trainer, Luciano Kydd. The self-employed personal trainer & online coach took the time to talk about his unique service, potential challenges he foresees in the future, his top motivation for staying at the top of his game and more nuggets of inspirational advice.

Let's get stuck in..

1. How would you describe your career path so far?

It has had it many challenges as many businesses do, but it has been rewarding on so many fronts, such as having the flexibility to take and collect my daughter from school. But more so having a positive hand in changing people lives and meeting people from all walks of life, with different stories.

2. What is your current role and what is your favourite part about it?

As a personal trainer/coach I wear multiple hats from content creator to psychologist, however my favourite part of my role is seeing someone change overtime and then hearing them utter the following powerful words “I did it!” or “I can do this!”, when a few moments, or weeks earlier they couldn’t believe that something was ever possible for them. The power of change!

3. What is your product/service?

I help busy over 30’s Women and men who want to look and feel great, in and out of their clothes, without having to resort to restrictive dieting methods or having to spend everyday in the gym doing cardio to get any results.

I deliver my services via 3 different means:

1- In-person personal Training in the local area of Cheltenham & surrounding areas.

2- Via my Online Coaching Program call The “BE MORE” Project

3- A Monthly Memberships call The “BE MORE” Hub

All of which can be access via my website at: www.bemorewithluciano.co.uk

4. Are you optimistic, realistic or pessimistic about 2022?

Despite what’s going on the world stage, I choose to be optimistic about life in general, simply because I’m in control of my attitude and emotions on a daily basis and what would life be like if I/you was to get up each day feeling doom and gloom, that’s what horror movies are for…

5. What advice would you give to your 21-year-old self about your career journey?

Stop worry about failing or fearing what others may think about me.

6. If you could instantly change one thing about your business, what would it be?

Erasing people’s mindset for thinking that health and fitness is a overnight or quick fix, simply because your health and fitness has no end date.

7. Who are your leadership role models?

Nirmal Purja (known as Nims) made famous for the recent Netflix documentary “14 peaks “. Purja is notable for having climbed all 14 eight-thousanders (mountain peaks above 8,000 metres or 26,000 feet) in a record time of six months and six days with the aid of bottled oxygen.

For me it shows what can be achieved firstly as a human when you believe in yourself, especially in the face of doubt, adversity, danger and death, all while being a leader of a team. If you haven’t seen the documentary as yet, do check it out.

8. What are your goals for the future?

From a personal perspective would be travelling more and making memories with my family and friends because those will be my only possession I can carry to my grave.

From a professional side it’s making sure I can help everyone that invested in my services and products while scaling up the online side of business. That will allow me to help others on a global scale with their health and fitness and give back to my local community and Island I grew up on.

9. Who is your target audience and will benefit from this product/service?

My audience or clientele are both men and women, usually over the age of 30, who range from stay at home parents to busy professionals, who want to lose weight or bodyfat, whilst getting stronger, fitter and feeling more confident in their body shape.

10. What is the need for your service and how does it fit amongst its competitors?

It's for the individual who is fed up with all the misinformation or clever marketing around the health and fitness industry, who has tried and fail to get any results by way of quick fixes, and is now ready to make long term change via habit coaching for the foreseeable future.

In all honesty I don’t see other personal trainer as my competition as such, as there are so many people on this planet that are suffering from poor health it needs all of us in the fitness industry to work together to make things better for these individuals. Poor health has become the normal most people don’t even know what good health looks like.

11. What makes this product/service stand out and the USP?

Basically I aim to simplify and educate the individual on what is needed to get results and keep it, or what one clients recently said in her feedback to me "I get people & meet them half way."

12. What hurdles have you had to overcome in creation of your service?

In the face of the Covid-19 pandemic, I have had to adjust and diversify my business to keep delivering high quality services to my clientele, who at that time were mostly face to face clients training with me in a gym setting. I had to rapidly open up more avenues such as online coaching to keep delivering a service whilst still achieving the results and customer service that they would have expect if we where in the gym environment.

13. What is the most important task you carry out each day?

Apart from being positive role model to my daughter and family, it’s helping my clientele to become a better version of themselves by working with them to deliver what they came to me for.

14. What motivates you every day?

The fear of just getting by and one day laying on my death bed and feeling like I haven’t done or lived the life I dreamt of or know I was capable of achieving with the time I had.
